Dresser Makeover

So a friend of mine had this in her garage and I saw it a while back
(meaning: few years ago)...
And when I saw it I thought - "I can make that pretty - and look at All That Storage!
But BOY does it need some help!"
Like most of my projects I forget to take a "before picture" so you have to imagine all the drawers in this dresser!

So I had my game plan together in my head and finally I took action.  My husband was home one day and my friend's husband was off too, so they loaded it up and brought it to our garage.  (My husband confessed later that had he seen it before it had already been loaded into the truck to come our way he would have said that there was NO WAY it was coming to our house!)  No faith!!!

But it was now in our garage - so he decided to help me remove the hardware and all that molding.  I thought the molding was going to be the difficult task - but had I taken a good look at the dresser (years ago when this plan all started) I would have noticed that all this molding wasn't even wood!  Yep - that's right - it's plastic screwed onto the dresser!  Crazy right!

So after removing everything I sanded the drawers and then started to fill the 70-some holes in the drawer fronts.  That was a task!  And then again sanded some more on the fronts of the drawers...

After all the sanding - I put a couple coats of fresh white paint on it and then distressed the edges a little and this is how it turned out!  I am Extremely happy with how it looks and it is AMAZING storage for a multitude of kids toys/games/puzzles/movies/books and more.  (Initially I had thought of removing the top middle drawer and making a space for all the cable boxes and stuff but I couldn't decide exactly how I wanted to do it so this works for now.  I really don't mind the stuff up there so it will probably stay this way in case we don't use it for a TV stand in the future!)

This has been a year of changing furniture in my house and I love projects like this -
now if I just had the time to take more projects on!

My 3 Year Old Boy!!

This little boy had a birthday yesteryday and he is 3 years old!!!

We had a party for him at the park with a few friends!

These three are going to be best buds for ever...maybe the outside two will get married...
that would be nice!

He got lots of great presents (thanks everyone!)...

But I think his favorite was his new bike!

These guys worked really hard holding
those balloons so they wouldn't blow away!

And then it was football time!  This guy got taken down a few times!

 Do you like my Mustach?

He drives like a farmer...what is he looking at?

(He should be paying more attention to the road and learning how to use the brakes!)

This girl helped me make the cake - it's hard work licking all
the beaters by yourself you know!

Not my most creative cake - but it fit my little man perfectly this year!

It was a great baseball birthday party!
Thanks to everyone who made his birthday special!

It's Baseball Time!

I love this girl...

she's so goofy!

And don't forget about this guy...so sweet!

this face scares me...

Apparently it scared her too...

But this makes me feel better...

We try to go to several Louisville Bats games a year - I wish we could make it to more.  Last one we went to was in June!  July has been a busy month so far - but I think we're headed to another game this week!

The kids LOVE the ballpark...especially this little man...

and this girl just likes the ice cream at the end of the night!

I think they both like this...

and the LOVE Buddy Bat...but then again, who doesn't!

First camping trip of 2012

So we took these two camping a few weeks back...

She really loved it...but she loves most everything...

and unlike last year's camping debacle...he loved it too!  Whooho

They had a good time getting into everything together...

These people came with us...

and this guy too!

They are some of my Favorite people!  Not too many people I know would work everyday with my husband and then say - "Sure - we'd love to go camping with you and your crazy kids!  That sounds like a great idea!"  They must really love us!

I really like this silly boy...

These guys got to go down one night early without any kids or wives...I'm just amazed they were still alive when we made it the next day! :)

Thanks for coming camping with our family guys!!!!  We can't wait to do it again!
(Maybe the next time I'll get some good pictures - these were awful!)

A little Vegas in review...

Zach and I took a quick trip out to Vegas for the weekend with a few friends last weekend.  I'm not sure who had more fun - the kids who got to stay with Grandma Barb and Jessica and got to visit the farm - or us!

Here's a quick review of our weekend - don't worry - it's all very PG13 of course!!!
(I left out all the really good stuff - Just kidding...kind-of!)

Our Crew

Zach and Lindsey - more blackjack please!

Nice drink...actually he stole it from Mr. Keith!

Lindsey showed the bartender how to really pour some shots!

Look at those skills~

Then the bartender showed us how to really deliver some drinks...he went all the way around the bar like this - impressive!

Don't we look cute!

Just a little shout out to the hard working Pepsi Guy!

Fountain show at the Bellagio

And that's the end folks - no more photos please!
We had a great time and are so thankful for Barb and Jess for taking Great care of our babes!  I'm not sure what we would do without you guys!
